Ston Easton Park is refurbished! Posted on 22/04/2008
STON EASTON PARK has recently undergone refurbishment and the results are superb. With Traditional England at its heart, the hotel has been successfully upgraded without losing any of its unique 18th Century appeal.
The collection of antique furniture amply accessorises the fusion of contemporary fabrics with traditional swags and tails. Each of the newly refurbished bedrooms is highly individual but they all have certain modern conveniences in common: Flat screen Televisions, High speed Broadband and en-suite bathrooms, for example. This unintrusive yet up-to-date technology extends to the common rooms too, making the hotel an ideal venue for business use.
The original property is thought to have been built in Tudor times and this is the latest in a number of changes the Estate has seen over the centuries. Among them the elaborate transformation from a five story Tudor House to a three storey Palladian Mansion, circa 1739. The outstanding landscape is the only surviving example of a Humphry Repton design in Somerset. It features the cascading River Norr, a stunning Victorian kitchen garden which produces much of the organic produce served in the restaurant, as well as outstanding flower borders which make the grounds a joy to explore.
The award winning restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and non-residents are warmly welcomed. Sunday Lunch is excellent value at £26.50 for three courses. Traditional Afternoon Teas are served every day in the comfortable drawing rooms or on the sunny terrace, and there are always special events in the diary, ranging from Cookery Demonstrations & Garden Open Days to Designer Fashion Shows.
Owned by the von Essen Hotel collection, Ston Easton Park exudes British charm and is steeped in history spanning the centuries. Ask the highly trained staff for a tour and you will see such treasures as the oldest surviving ‘Print Room’ in England and the original Edwardian kitchens.
